DAMIS GIN


When we think of Suriname, we think of all the different types of people and cultures. There’s one big thing that unites all these cultures: the Surinamese cuisine. It is known for the use of many herbs, spices and peppers. Right under the palmtrees of Palmentuin, while being surrounded by all the beautiful colours and flavours of Paramaribo, the idea for Damis Gin was born. We are Daniel and Michelle Elsau. Besides travelling the world we love to cook and to eat. Combining different and not so obvious flavours is what we do best. The recipe for this gin is based on a mix of various Surinamese peppers and sixteen extraordinary botanicals. Every sip is an experience and brings us back to our journey through Suriname. The gin has a complex, fierce and fiery character. Therefore you can drink it either straight or mixed. The perfect combination with this gin is our handmade Damis Tonic Water with notes of orange blossom. Add some dried lime, cardamom and piment to this and it will ensure the right balance between spicy and citrus.
